Question: Do you have to be Catholic to attend Cheverus?
Answer: No. nearly 50% of the student population are of faith backgrounds other than Catholic. However, the teachings of the Catholic Church and its traditions are central to who we are, and all students do participate in religious celebrations such as First Friday and Holyday Masses. Although Cheverus Catholic takes great pride in the diversity of faith backgrounds represented by our families, we are equally proud of our Catholic identity and mission and acknowledge that it is the primary reason for our existence.
Question: What is expected of the parents of Cheverus students?
Answer: Cheverus Catholic views parents as their children’s primary teachers. We expect a partnership with parents that will result in enabling students to realize their full academic potential. Cheverus has an actively engaged/involved Parent Teacher Association. All parents by virtue of having a student at Cheverus Catholic are members of the PTA and are encouraged to participate.
Question: Where do our students come from?
Answer: Cheverus students hail primarily from Malden. In addition to Malden, students come from but are not limited to the communities of Medford, Everett, Revere, Chelsea, and Somerville.
Question: Does school serve lunch?
Answer: Yes, students may choose from a hot or cold lunch at a cost of $2.75. Cheverus Catholic participates in the federal lunch program for free and reduced lunch for those who qualify. Students have the option of bringing a lunch from home.
Question: Do students wear uniforms?
Answer: Yes, all students wear uniforms. Uniforms may be ordered from Collegiate House of Medford.
Question: What do we offer in the way of extended day, early drop-off, school vacation, and summer vacation programs?
Answer: Our Extended Day Program is offered throughout the school year at a cost of $20.00 per day from 2 – 5:30 PM. Pick up from extended day by 3:30 costs $10.00 per day. Early drop-off is available at a cost of $5.00 per day. Students may be dropped off as early as 6:30 AM.
There are “Vacation Fun Programs” during the Christmas, February and April recesses at a cost of $50.00 per day. The program runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. There is a “Summer Fun Program” as well. The cost is $50.00 per day or $225.00 per week. The program is available for any part of or all of 9 weeks. The summer program offers daily recreational activities that include swimming, arts and crafts, games, as well as both recreational and cultural field trips.
Question: What time does school begin and end each day?
Answer: Students gather in the school yard by 7:50 each morning, weather permitting, in the gymnasium otherwise. The school day begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 2:00 PM for Pre-School – Grade 4. All others at 2:05.
Teacher meetings take place on the first Friday of each month. Students are dismissed at 11:20 AM on those days.
Question: Does Cheverus Catholic offer any athletic programs.
Answer: Cheverus offers athletics on the interscholastic level in Cross Country, Track and Field, and Basketball. Additionally, there is an after school intramural program.
Question: Is financial aid available?

Question: Where do our students go to high school?
