My Monster from Latin America Project Assessment – 6th Grade

Project Objective:
Students will create an imaginary monster inspired by a Latin American country, using colors from the country’s flag and cultural elements. The monster should include body parts and geometric shapes. Students will research their chosen country and present their monster in Spanish, describing its body parts, colors, shapes, and cultural elements.
Project Instructions:
1. Country Selection: Each student will choose a Latin American country.
2. Research:
• Research the colors of the country’s flag and cultural elements that could be incorporated into your monster design.
• Learn about any significant cultural symbols, traditions, or attire.
3. Monster Design:
• Create a detailed drawing or collage of your monster.
• Include at least four body parts and use at least three different geometric shapes.
• Use colors from the chosen country’s flag.
• Add at least one cultural detail inspired by the country.
4. Description Preparation:
• Write a brief description of your monster in Spanish, including:
• The chosen country and the colors used.
• A description of the body parts, shapes, and cultural detail.
• Complete sentences using the present tense.
5. Final Presentation:
• Present your monster to the class in Spanish, explaining the elements and inspiration behind your creation.
• Include details about the colors, shapes, body parts, and cultural elements.
Evaluation Criteria:
• Research (20%): The depth and accuracy of the information gathered about the country and cultural elements.
• Creativity and Originality (20%): How original and creative the monster design is, and how well it represents the country.
• Visual Design (20%): The clarity, detail, and overall quality of the drawing or collage.
• Oral Presentation (20%): Clarity and fluency of the presentation in Spanish, correct use of vocabulary, and present tense.
• Use of Spanish (20%): Proper use of Spanish vocabulary, including body parts, colors, and shapes.
