Clothing Project Assessment – 8th Grade
Due Date: December 13th
Project Objective:
In pairs, students will design an outfit inspired by the traditional clothing of an assigned Latin American country and adapt it to a specific season of the year. Each member of the group must choose a different season and design the outfit for their classmate. Additionally, students will research the country and its customs to create a presentation about their design.
Project Instructions:
1. Group Formation: You will work in pairs assigned by the teacher.
2. Country Assignment: The teacher will assign you a Latin American country.
3. Season Selection:
• Each group member must choose a different season (spring, summer, fall, or winter).
• The selected seasons must be different between group members.
4. Research:
• Research the traditional clothing of the assigned country.
• Learn about the customs and traditions related to fashion in that country.
• Consider how you would adapt the traditional clothing to the season you chose.
5. Outfit Design:
• Draw or create a detailed design of the outfit that represents the season and the assigned country.
• Ensure you include elements of traditional attire.
6. Presentation Preparation:
• Prepare a presentation where you describe the outfit you design for your partner.
• Use the present tense throughout your presentation.
• Include descriptions of the colors, shapes, and types of clothing used in your design, all in Spanish.
• Explain how your design reflects both the season and the traditional clothing and customs of the country.
7. Final Presentation:
• Each group will present their design to the class, explaining the elements and inspiration behind their outfit using the present tense and Spanish vocabulary for colors, shapes, and clothing.
Evaluation Criteria:
• Research (20%): Depth and accuracy of the information gathered about the country and its customs.
• Creativity and Originality (20%): Originality of the design and adaptation of the traditional attire.
• Visual Design (20%): Clarity, detail, and quality of the drawings or sketches.
• Oral Presentation (20%): Clear explanation, use of Spanish vocabulary (including colors, shapes, and clothing terms), and ability to answer questions. The use of present tense is required.
• Teamwork (20%): Collaboration and fair distribution of tasks.
