Students in the 8th grade were asked to create their ofrenda as a group on someone that has passed away either celeberities or important Hispanic Figures. We have ofrendas honoring Selena Quintanilla, Diego Maradona, Frida Kahlo, and others! The tradition of Dia de los Muertos is celebrated November 1st -2nd mainly in Mexico but in other Latino countries as well. The ofrenda is a way to commemorate the life of a loved one who has passed and it is a day to remember the legacy they left on Earth. It is decorated with important traditional elements such as candles, papel picado, pan de muerto, sugar skulls, etc.
Students in 6th grade were asked to create a family tree on a poster and 7/8th grade students were asked to create a scrapbook of their family both had to be done in Spanish. Such creative and detailed projects from middle school. Buen trabajo!
