Welcome to my page!
Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) consists of English grammar, literature, writing, and vocabulary.
I also teach Religion to Grade 6 and Grade 7.The religion curriculum in grade 6 focuses on the Old Testament, and grade 7 is about the history of the Church.
The emphasis in the English grammar curriculum is on parts of speech and their different uses.
The literature component of ELA involves the reading and discussion of various genres. Students are quizzed on each story upon completion.
Writing requires that students become familiar with a variety of styles including: opinion, persuasive, compare/contrast, narrative, and poetry. Cheverus teaches the Collins Writing Program.
The focus of the ELA program is to insure that students acquire the skills necessary for success in high school, especially the grade 8 curriculum.
Homework is assigned daily in most every subject. Assignments are graded along with classwork,
quizzes, and tests. Students are strongly encouraged to orally participate in class.
