Classroom Behavior/Management
It is important to have a structured routine so that students knows what to be expected at school.
there is a chart hanging in the classroom . Every student has a clip with their name on it. The students' clip starts on the space "Ready to Learn". During the day if the student is paying attention and doing his/her clip will go up the chart. If the student is not paying attention and not doing his/her work, the clip will move down the chart
Classroom Participation/ Grading
Our school day begins at 7:40 and ends to 2:00. It is important for the students are prompt and prepared at the start of each day. Having a well balanced breakfast and a good night's sleep will help your child to be successful while learning at school.
Grading are made up of classwork, homework, grades and participation throughou the school day.
Homework
Homework is an extension of the skills being taught during the school day. Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. The students should complete assignments neatly and correctly and return to school the next day. While students are doing assignments, parents can check , correct and review when necessary. Part of homework is the responsbility of the student. It is always to get nto a routine to do homework. Have your child identify a designated area to complete his/her assignments free from distractions.
In addition to nightly written homework assignments, students should pratice the following:
Read with an adult for at least 15 minutes nightly.
Study and practice spelling words nightly. Spelling words should be mastered not only for spelling , but reading recognizing , and using them in sentences correctly.
Study and practice math facts nightly . Students should memorize and master the basic math facts. This will help with future math skills .
Practice handwriting while using first grade writing lines. Letter formation, size, and shape, line quality , and spacing between letters and words are very important on all assignments.
