Goals The goal of this year is to primarily prepare your child for fourth grade. As well as to prepare your child to be an independent learner. We would like to see them grow in their independent skills with their education and expect a high quality work from them. Typical Daily Schedule Spelling, English/Writing, Reading, Math, Religion, Science/ Social Studies Religion Religion is taught every day as it is graded as a subject. We use the We Believe Series and our main focus in third grade is learning all about the Saints. Homework Homework will be posted daily on my teacher web page. Third grade is a year where students will learn to be more independent as they grow. It is expected that high quality work is completed and handed in on time. Students’ schoolwork should be of high quality in both content and appearance. There is homework each night of the week in third grade, always consisting of a language arts and math activity. Homework is expected to be passed in the next day. Study of skills learned and practiced during the week should continue to be studied over the weekend. All graded papers, including tests, quizzes, and classwork, go home on Fridays in a special weekly folder. Parents are asked to sign the signature sheet inside the folder and return the signed weekly folder every Monday. Some worksheets are graded with a checkmark system that signifies excellent, good, or poor schoolwork.
Birthdays Birthday favors should be easy to manage. Each child will receive a homework pass to use that day or any day of his/her choice and a birthday certificate and pencil! Homework passes can't not be used for studying for tests or quizzes. Summer birthdays will be celebrated in the spring.
Specials Gym will be on Wednesdays and Fridays so be sure that your child is wearing their gym uniforms and sneakers. Art will be on Tuesdays and Fridays as well.
Grading Policy One of the major differences between second and third grade is that they receive a letter grades for this subjects which are A,B,C,D, and F.
Classroom Behavior and Participation Third grade students are expected to listen attentively, complete work neatly and on time, work independently, follow directions, show self-control, accept correction, be courteous and respectful to others, be organized and care for their property. Students will be expected to actively participate every day in class.
