Dear Parents,
Christmas time at Cheverus is a very busy time of year. As we continue with the usual academics and activities, we also have many celebrations together. Our new Polar Express event put on by the PTA and made possible by parents, teachers, and student volunteers was a great way to get all our students in the Christmas spirit. Events like these make me so grateful to be part of a community that can come together and create such a joyous experience. Each Monday of Advent we came together as a school for our Advent prayer service. These special gatherings allow us to come together as a school and enjoy some prayer time together. Our hat and mitten drive was a great success. It not only keeps those in need warm during the cold months of the holiday season, but it also allows students to experience the joy of giving during Christmas time.
Of course, the big events of Christmas are the Pageant, and the Christmas shows. As most of you witnessed, our grade one through eight students put on another amazing performance at the church Wednesday evening. For me personally, nothing brings the Christmas spirit like the pageant. The story of Christ’s birth is beautifully told each year through song, speech, and acting. The event is also a beautiful showcase of the diversity of our community through our international speakers and greeters. This event is also so special because it’s a time for alumni to return and share in the holiday spirit. Our young preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten students also put on a wonderful Christmas show that celebrates the Christmas season and future of Cheverus Catholic school.
Cheverus is a special place to me for many reasons. This time of year simply makes that more evident. Seeing the joy in children’s faces as they celebrate, give, sing, and pray, makes me very proud to be a part of this wonderful community. All of us at Cheverus Catholic school wish you and your families a holy and wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jeff Lane
