Dear Cheverus Parents, Students, Faculty and Staff
I hope this communication finds you well during these most unusual and challenging times. I write on this note of the Feast of Saint Joseph, the Patron of the Universal Church. I respectfully ask that you share this prayer with your children:
Blessed Joseph, husband of Mary, be with us this day. You protected and cherished the Virgin; loving the Child Jesus as your Son, you rescued Him from the danger of death. Defend the Church, the household of God, purchased by the Blood of Christ. Guardian of the Holy Family, be with us in our trials. May your prayers obtain for us the strength to flee from error and wrestle with the powers of corruption so that in life we may grow in holiness and in death rejoice in the crown of victory.
Jesus and Mary Pray for us. Bishop Cheverus Pray for us.
Additional, Pope Francis has asked that we join him today at 4PM EDT to pray the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary.
As recently as this morning Mr. Lane and I met with several members of the faculty to look at ways that we may further engage our students via electronic media. You will be hearing more about this from individual teachers very soon. We are investigating ways to upload videos to a Facebook page we are creating called Cheverus School Online Classroom for the various grades.
At the same time we are doing this, we are discussing how to monitor student engagement and grading. We have not, as of yet, made any determination about grading. This conversation remains ongoing given the uncertainty of how long we will be physically out of school.
Meanwhile, we intend to utilize as many tools at our disposal to communicate as effectively and as often as we can with our students and families.
I urge you to continue to heed the advice of the health experts: wash and sanitize hands and practice social distancing, no play dates, and avoid leaving home as much as possible.
