Feast of St. Joseph - March 19th
Week of March 18th - 5th Week of Lent
Holy Mass - We will celebrate Holy Mass on Tuesday, March 19th to honor St. Joseph, Mary's husband and protector of the Holy Family! Please bring your child directly to the church on Tuesday by 7:45am.
Penance Service - Immediately after Mass on Tuesday, students in grades 3-8 will celebrate a Penance Service and all Catholic students will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is a very important sacrament and Lent is a wonderful time to receive this sacrament to free us from sin as we prepare for Jesus' great suffering, death, and Resurrection.
Stations of the Cross - On Friday, the 3rd grade will join the 5th grade to pray the Stations of the Cross. We will walk to the church together and back again. This is a special devotion focused upon during the season of Lent.
Empowering God's Children - Mrs. Megan Caplan will be presenting a safe environment lesson to the students in the weeks ahead. A flyer explaining the program is going home in your child's folder today. Please read it over and let me know if you have any questions!
Math practice - Please encourage your child to practice his/her math facts every night for our weekly multiplication minute tests. The following are ideas on how to practice:
1. writing out the multiplication tables on paper
2. completing worksheets (choose from a variety in pile in school)
3. using flashcards made in school
4. playing Multiplication Memory (game made in school)
5. play the Product Game
6. online activities (i.e. multiplication.com, xtramath.org)
School Uniforms - Please be sure your child is wearing the proper uniform each day. Since we have gym 3 days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), students need only wear the dress uniform 2 days a week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, all students should be wearing the dress uniform with all black shoes. On gym days, any color sneakers can be worn. Please refer to the Parent-Student Handbook on our website for clarification.
